What can this sector do?

Although computing companies are developing greener products that can significantly decrease the consumer’s carbon emissions, efforts can be made in reducing their own impact on the climate change.

Companies can pay closer attention to their supply-chain by making sure they choose suppliers that emit less carbon. Equally, much of the emissions from computer companies comes in the use-phase (downstream scope 3 emissions). The rise of cloud computing has been assessed as a really beneficial technology to mitigating against climate change from this sector. Cloud computing can be used by this sector to run energy intensive data processing banks far more efficiently.
