This industry has a low energy demand compared to other industries and therefore a low footprint, but can still take measures to reduce their impact on climate change by a few measures;
Through using energy from renewable sources and cleaner electricity suppliers to power offices and factories. Also through innovations such as low-energy LED lamps, solar tube lighting and electric vehicles and the promotion of teleconferencing can increased carbon efficiency can be implemented.
The supply-chain footprint of these industries is enourmous and steps can be taken to lower impact on biodiversity and water usage. This sector could improve by promoting the reporting of its Scope 3 emissions (the impact of the value-chain) in CSR reports and in reporting emissions to The Carbon Disclosure Project.
